important resource: Surrey Libraries

Updated: Jul 28, 2020

If you do not already have a library card/account, I strongly suggest creating an account now.

If you live in Surrey, sign up with this link: https://www.surreylibraries.ca/sign-library-card-home-0

Though the public libraries are of course closed, there are still many many free services and resources available through their site: https://www.surreylibraries.ca/services/online-library

If you live outside of Surrey and Vancouver, the library system is FVRL - see this post for sign-up information: https://caitlinbaird1.wixsite.com/thelab/post/library-sign-up-information

You will see databases useful for school, work, and entertainment. For instance, they have video databases like Lynda.com which has lots of college-level content applicable to your courses at VaCC; they also have tools like resume builders, language courses, and research material.

On the fun side, there are resources for children and families including activity ideas, plus a variety streaming services (documentaries, international shows, educational programs...) for those of you who have exhausted Netflix while stuck at home.

Access to all the different memberships, services, and resources is completely free - paid for by the library.

For those of you in SSS/BC-PRD this week, you will be doing a research/citation assignment - consider using the library as a starting point.
