10th June, Friday

Some important reminders. Please note all of this is covered in your welcome material.

  1. Class does not begin at 8.30. Class begins at 8am, when you are meant to read through these daily posts and be ready with your questions. The half hour grace period expires at 8.30. If you are late for the attendance meeting, you are over half an hour late to class. You will lose a full hour of attendance if this is a repeated behaviour.

  2. The daily progress email is mandatory. It contributes to your attendance record. If you do not communicate throughout the course, you do not have grounds to request accommodation at the end of the course. This is clearly stated on the first day of class and multiple times throughout the week.

  3. You do not need to create meetings for any reason, although you do have the power within Teams to do so. All meetings are prescheduled and linked in these daily posts as well as on the Meetings tab. There is no excuse for being unable to locate your meetings if you are able to access the attendance one.

  4. Office hour is only one of the scheduled opportunities for one-on-one help. There are set assignment check meetings as well. In addition, you can request a call during class hours and I can schedule one. You can also simply message me during class hours and I can call you directly on Teams.

  5. If you wish to contact me anonymously, a form is provided on the tab of this site called The Lab.

  6. The lab site, this green one, is the primary source for all resources and communication throughout the course. This is stated in the email sent prior to the course. Any necessary ECampus resources have been moved to this site or will be clearly labeled in your daily instructions.

  7. All assignments are explained on your Course pages including criteria rubrics, video demonstrations, and more. If you have questions, you are to include them in your progress emails or ask during meetings. I am happy to provide or update resources.

  8. I provide all course material at the beginning of the course along with the outline, as is standard for academic courses at the post secondary level. I also provide suggested schedules for accessing the resources. It is your responsibility to organize your time as this is part of the skillset taught in these courses.

  9. Multiple classes are running at once in the lab. The enrolment ratios change weekly. There are students from all programs in the lab as these are not program-specific courses, but instead your computers, soft skills, and scholastic skills.

  10. All exams have provided study guides downloadable from your Course page. These cover your exams in detail. There are also videos wherein I talk through the answers to the study guide questions. These are assigned.

  11. Video resources are provided for multiple reasons including: accessibility, rewatchability, flexibility in students' personal scheduling; gives me the time to spend one-on-one and live group time with the different courses without sacrificing lecture content; provides activity for while I am with other students.

  12. Extensions are to be requested in progress emails the class prior to the due date.

  13. Absences and technical difficulties need to be accounted for. You must email me or message me on Teams or even telephone campus if you will be absent; if you are unable to contact prior, you need to get in touch ASAP preferably with documentation as per the Student Handbook. If you have technical problems, you are to provide screenshots.

  14. I want to support you in your success, but I am unable to do so without proactive communication.

  15. End of course information and daily instruction is below.

Instructions per course:

CES: Today is an in-class interview activity. The instructions are in the DropBox. Essentially, you are to answer (and create) questions you might encounter in a job interview. You'll have group time to practice interviewing each other. You should see your edits for your cover letter and resume (if you submitted them) in the DropBox. Send me your final edited copies by 4pm. Please CC Kate Merchant on the submission.

ITC week 1: During class today, please take your midterm exam on ECampus. You'll see it show up after or during the morning meeting. It's multiple choice, 25 questions. Though there are two attempts available, do not use your second attempt without permission. There are also the two corresponding "bonus" quizzes - worth 2.5% each - which are also multiple choice, 10 questions each. Please take these as well if you did not yesterday. You can also retake these quizzes for a better mark if you were unhappy with yesterday's result. I allow you to take the quizzes twice, but there is a 24-hour waiting period before you can try again. Next week, you will be continuing with your assignments and completing your second study guide. The final exam and bonus quizzes 3 + 4 will be taken next Friday, the final day of your course.

ITC week 2: Take your final exam on ECampus, and retake quizzes 3 and 4. Submit your assignments via email and/or via ECampus by 4pm.

KBD: Take the tests today. Submit your test tracker by 4pm unless you requested an extension yesterday. If you did request an extension, please check in with me before next Friday so we can see how much more time you'll need.

OSK week 1: Continue with your assignments. If you're not sure which topic to choose for your presentation, send me an email with your ideas and I can help you narrow it down.

OSK week 2: You have your final exam today. It's on ECampus. Simply click to begin. Please take it within class time today - it allows four hours. As I showed yesterday, the majority of the test is multiple choice and true/false. A few questions at the end, the short answer questions, require that you download a form (for example, a telephone message form), fill it in, and email it to me.

MSW, MSE, MSP: Carry on in Pearson. If you are having technical issues, please reach out. If your course ends today, make sure you submit your filled-in Grades Tracker by 4pm. Be sure to CC Student Services so she receives a copy of your Tracker.

Remember: MSW only needs Grader 1, 2, and 3 + Midterm 1 and 2 + Final 1; for MSE and MSP, please go from Module 1 all the way to Final Exam 2.

If you have already submitted your tracker, I have entered your marks on ECampus. If you wish for me to look over any of the assignments for grade increases, please join me in the 10am assignment check meeting.
