From our cybersecurity and IT team:
"To enhance our security and follow cyber-security best practices, a Multi-Factor Authentication login system will be implemented school-wide.
When implemented, you MUST configure the Multi-Factor Authentication for your account to continue using school MS Office 365 services (email, Teams, etc.).
Please set aside at least fifteen minutes of your day so that you can commit to thoroughly reading the bulletin and carefully following these instructions.
What is Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)?
MFA is used to verify user identity by utilizing at least two pieces of evidence.
In the case of our college, logging into MS Office 365 services will require you to provide your regular password and additional authentication via the Microsoft Authenticator mobile application or a code texted to your mobile phone.
Is MFA setup mandatory?
Yes. Starting December 13, 2021, you will be prompted to set up your MFA with the option to skip, but by December 27, 2021, MFA will be mandatory, and you won't be able to skip the setup process.
How will this affect me, and how do I access my Office 365 accounts?
During the MFA setup process, you will be instructed to download and configure the Microsoft Authenticator mobile application or to provide your phone number so that you can receive a text message for identity verification.
After MFA is set up on your account, you will be required to confirm your identity in the same manner periodically or when you access to email/Teams/other Office 365 services from a different device.
What is required for setting up MFA?
You will need your cell phone to set up MFA. It is required to download the Microsoft Authenticator application OR to receive a text message with the code for identity verification. Your mobile phone information and number are not shared with anyone in the organization."
