midmorning important tech updates

Off campus

ECampus

We're experiencing long load times. Try to be patient and let the site take its time. If you get a 404 or other error, reload the page. If you lose work, take screenshots.

Pearson

Available. Scheduled maintenance this weekend.

Security

Due to the ongoing and sophisticated cyber attacks against our servers, I strongly suggest you update your passwords across accounts as some passwords have been leaked. In particular, ensure your banking and other important accounts have a different password than your ECampus.

Phishing emails

Please see this post. Remember to delete unsolicited emails unopened, particularly if they contain an attachment or link.

On campus

Server

Unfortunately, our servers are not yet fully repaired. I will continue to update you. From IT:

"Campus Support it is currently investigating a cybersecurity incident. We have identified that our system was targeted through sophisticated means and we are in the process of evaluating the impact of this event.

We have engaged a team of cybersecurity experts who are investigating the incident, and we will notify affected individuals if necessary.

This matter is of the utmost concern to Campus Support and is being treated as our highest priority. We apologize for the inconvenience this unfortunate incident may have caused."

Computer lab

Available.

Internet connection

Guest wifi only - too weak for class. This means we will be remaining virtual for class until further notice. If you do go to campus, sign-in instructions are posted on the walls and whiteboard in my classroom (202).

Windows 10 and Office 365/2019

Available.
