from IT: access to e-books

A notice from our IT department:

"Here are 3 things that must happen for our students to receive a standard ebook.

1) The student must have the ebook listed in their book agreements. This is easy to overlook and agreements can become out of date if a course is updated after a student has already started with the college. If they do not have the book listed, this is a problem we can address.

2) The student must have positive attendance. We do not allow students to gain access to books before their courses begin as a means to prevent students from being charged for books that belong to courses they never attended as a matter of fairness. Without positive attendance, the book link will not be visible to the student.

3) The student must click on the book link that is located in the Textbook Resources block (usually the right side of the main course page). No other link to the book will provide the student access to the book from Vitalsource. In some cases we have created links to specific pages for the students to read. These links will only work AFTER the student has clicked the book link in the Textbook Resources block and been granted access to the book on their Vitalsource account."
